Welcome in

Built by people
who care about people.

We didn't build Parallel for a market. We built it because we needed it. Take a look around — every feature here exists because someone felt something that needed a better answer.

"The most powerful thing you can say to someone in pain is: me too."

That's the whole product. Everything below is how we make that moment possible.

Getting started

Three paths in.
No wrong answer.

Onboarding on Parallel asks one question before anything else: what brings you here today? There's no pressure to decide. You can switch modes anytime with a single tap.

Browse path takes 60 seconds — just your age range and you're in. Seeking and Helping paths add your experiences and identifiers so we can match you properly.

  • Age range is the only permanent field — everything else can change
  • Gender identity and identifiers are optional — always
  • Browse users can upgrade to Seeking or Helping at any time
  • The action you take tells us which path you need
What brings you here?
You can switch between modes anytime — this isn't permanent.

The community

Warm. Human.
Real.

The feed isn't a social media timeline. It's a community board — posts from real people sharing real experiences, sorted by what's most relevant to you.

Sage responds first to every post while your human parallels are found. Nobody posts into silence.

  • Posts are anonymous by default — no names, no faces required
  • Sage always responds first so you're never waiting alone
  • Categories filter by experience type — grief, relationships, career, and more
  • Mode toggle lets you switch between Seeking, Helping, and Browse instantly

3 people in your community are going through something similar right now. You're not alone in this.
I've been a PM for 11 years. Got a calendar invite that just said 'chat' and by 9:15 I was out. I keep waking up at 6:30 like I still have somewhere to be...
She passed three weeks ago. Everyone keeps saying she's in a better place and I just want to scream...

The core promise

You don't need
the right words.
Just the honest ones.

Type how you actually feel — not clinical labels. "I feel empty and nothing helps" finds the same people as "major depressive disorder." Your language is valid.

The Parallel Filter shows you exactly who has been through your experience. The thread graphic represents two paths converging — yours and theirs.

  • Fuzzy search — typos and variations all work
  • First-person language — "I feel depressed" works just like "depressed"
  • Clinical tags are backend only — users only ever see human language
  • Multiple experiences can be filtered simultaneously

Sacred space

Say the thing.
Watch it disappear.

Venting is the one feature on Parallel with no Sage scanner, no feedback, no moderation. It's just you and the release. When the timer runs out — it's gone.

Three modes, three moods. Free users get Float. Paid users choose how their words leave.

  • Float — words drift upward and dissolve as you type them
  • Heartbeat — screen pulses faster as time runs out
  • Burn — write everything, watch the timer, it all dissolves at once
  • Crisis detection still runs silently — you're never truly alone
  • Nothing is stored. Nothing is shared. Between you and you.

AI done right

Holds space.
Never center stage.

Sage is Parallel's built-in AI — always labeled, always transparent. It's there in the gap between posting and your community arriving. It checks in when posts carry weight. It never pretends to be human.

The SmartTextBox scans your response tone silently as you type. After a 2.5 second pause, Sage reads what you wrote. If it flags something — a gentle nudge appears. You always choose whether to post.

  • Style is never flagged — slang, AAVE, casual language all fine
  • Only flags what would make someone feel dismissed or unseen
  • Crisis detection routes to real resources — never a chatbot loop
  • No tone scanning inside Venting — ever
  • Always labeled "Parallel AI" — no ambiguity

Sage · Parallel AI · Responded immediately
What you're describing — waking up at 6:30 with nowhere to go — is one of the most disorienting parts of sudden job loss. Your sense of self didn't disappear with the job. It got buried under years of showing up. The people who've been through this and come back describe coming back as someone slightly different — more grounded, less defined by a title.
Your response
I went through this two years ago. It took me six months but I came back stronger. You just need to stay positive and keep applying...

"Just need to stay positive" might feel dismissive to someone in acute pain. Want to see a suggestion?

Private connections

Your parallel.
Just the two of you.

When you find someone who has been through exactly what you're going through, sometimes the conversation needs to move somewhere private. Direct messaging on Parallel is built for that moment.

Every DM thread shows your shared parallel — the experience that connected you — so you never lose sight of why you're here.

  • Only available between matched parallels — not cold outreach
  • Shared parallel badge shows your connection at the top of every thread
  • Sage tone scanner active in DMs — same gentle nudge before sending
  • You can end or pause a DM thread at any time with no friction
  • Available at Rooted tier and above

Hey — I saw your post. I went through almost exactly the same thing 14 months ago. The 6:30 wake up thing hit me hard.
Really? How long before it started feeling normal again?
Honest answer? About four months before I stopped reaching for my work laptop first thing. But something shifted around month two when I stopped trying to replicate what I had.
That's both terrifying and somehow helpful. What changed in month two?
I'll tell you but it's going to sound annoyingly simple. I started asking what I actually liked about the work — not the role, the actual work. Turns out it wasn't the PM stuff.

This dismisses their pain. "You'll get over it" minimizes a real experience. Try sharing what helped you instead of telling them what to do.
